This video is a good one to get you thinking about balancing your time and not spending too much time in front of a screen this holidays. Hopefully, the weather will be kind on some of the days so that you can get outside and play or maybe play a board game inside rather than spending long periods of time on video games.

We had some great entries to our Book Review Competition and by far the most creative was the “Family Book Club” animation by the Lawrenson family, reviewing the book “The World’s Worst Children” by David Walliams. Here it is for you to enjoy!

What a lovely way to warm up on Friday with our Vegetable soup Day! Thank you to families for sending along a variety of fresh vegies that we were able to include as ingredients. We made vegie soup pots on the computers, labelled our vegies and even found some words after Mrs Moncrieff tricked us and cut them in half! Big thanks to our helper parents and to Mrs O’Brien for finishing off the day! Well done to the children who had a taste – the word is that someone came back for fourths!!!!!

Fabulous Fresh Fruit Day

A big thank you to Mrs Rigby and Ms O’Brien for assisting with our Prep C program this week while Mrs Moncrieff tried to get better! We have continued our Health unit, with a focus this week on healthy food. Our life sized Healthy Harry and Sometimes Sally are hanging in our room to show how much we know about which foods we should eat more often. Fresh Fruit Day was just fabulous! We made fruit salad, did fruit word puzzles, made a fruit page on Tux Paint and matched fruit pictures with their correct names. Matching words to pictures really makes the children use their reading strategies, looking at beginning sounds, segmenting and blending.

A big congratulations to Lucas and Hannah who have been selected as our Student Representative Council members for this year. They have been to two meetings now and communicated the entire process very precisely! They have helped us prepare for World Ocean Day today. Thank you to everyone for wearing blue and for the gold coin donations. Thomas was a very enthusiastic money collector. We are looking forward to what is in store for Term 3!

What a Healthy Week!

Despite some sniffles this week we have tried really hard to be extra healthy! We have followed our poster suggestions from last week, and then added some new ideas! We have realized that everyone needs to have people who care for them and those who we can love to make us feel good. We can share our feelings and keep an eye on our mental health. Also added to our poster is the need to be rested, mindful and to take time to meditate to keep us energized and focused. Our Keep Healthy Day today was a good opportunity to practise being healthy. We had dance with Tahlia and Yoga with Christine. There was some wonderful healthy lunchboxes today too!

Here are some photos from the day and our dance video!

And here is our cool dance!!!

Our Prep C Hospital has been opened and has already had some visiting patients! Doctors Bond and Wilson have skillfully delivered a healthy baby koala to mum Tessa! We hope that Thomas is seeking some further medical intervention as he does not look well. The children have had a ball in here!
