Welcome to Term 3

Welcome back for Term 3 and all the fun and activities we have planned.

A happy hello to our new friend Lilla and her family. We have loved getting to know you and even your pet chickens!

A welcome to the world for the new baby in Zavier’s family! We cant wait for a cuddle – huge congrats to the family!

Our integrated unit for the first half of this term is all abut Our Community and the places we belong. We have talked about what a community is and explored some small communities like our little families and found that our classroom and school are just like communities too. We all work and play and help each other. We have decided that we all need a job in our classroom so have made a great poster about how we can contribute. Next week we will be interviewing people who work in our school to find out what they do. Fun times ahead!

In English we have been using our “Chunking” strategy to work out new words, with Chunky Monkey helping us to remember this skill. Our holiday snapshot stories were terrific, we have added them to the writing in our red books. Come in and have a look at them! Next week we will begin to learn about writing letters – so that we can write one to post home on our Community walk. In Maths, Super Subtraction and counting back have been our focus. We also have introduced how we can view objects from different angles and points, so that objects look different, from the side or from a “Bird’s Eye” view. We will be drawing maps of our community next week too!

Do the children know their street address? They will be asked to learn this so we can check out our streets and houses on Google Earth and post their letter home.

Don’t forget to complete the little slip at the bottom of the Term 3 Newsletter if you would like to talk to our class about your job. Also let Mrs Moncrieff know if you are able to help with costumes for the concert.
